When Will You Stop Being Sweet?

Did you know that this blog is one and a half years old!? That’s how long I’ve been off sugar.

Perhaps you came here by doing a search. Maybe someone told you about this website. Either way, you can live a healthier life by changing how you eat starting right now.

What do you need to “get off sugar” once and for all? Why do you keep eating junk food?

I wish I knew what i needed, there have been many attemps, somtimes I have gone weeks, then I fail…

Why do I keep eating junk food?

One reason is cravings, even after 4-5 days of being sugar free.
Then there’s the anxiety over lifes stresses, that’s always a trigger.

And I always think it will make me feel better.
That’s a joke..

Well I have fallen off the wagon so many times now. I keep thinking that one little bit will be okay… Which meant that recently I ate 2 kit kats and 16 individual chocolates on Tuesday. It’s crazy cos I feel so awful afterwards. I’m considering giving up chocolate completely because I don’t think I can have ‘just a little bit’. I’ve ordered a book called ‘chocolate busters’ which I’m hoping might help me kick the habit. I can relate to Vanadia’s ‘trigger food’ idea. I could happily eat two pieces of chocolate cheesecake but I wouldn’t eat two pieces of lemon cheesecake (which I do like). I might eat one but not two. I don’t eat vast quantities of sugary things that don’t have chocolate on them eg. I wouldn’t eat biscuits if they weren’t chocolate covered or didn’t have chocolate chips in. I’m not sure what it is in chocolate that make me react in this way. I’m wondering whether I would be ok with 100% chocolate which is unsweetened. Is that cheating? I’ve found a recipe for chocolate cake made with unsweetened chocolate and apple juice. I’m not sure whether that’s a sugar addict’s way of bending the rules. I wouldn’t eat it every day but I was thinking maybe for special occasions. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Congrats on 18 mths sugar free. Fantastic achievement!!! I enjoyed your list of the benefits of being sugar free.

Good luck with the ongoing sugar challenge.

TODAY IS THE DAY!!!! I once went 6 weeks without sugar and fell off the wagon because a little girl in my class gave me a caramel apple dipped in chocolate. But I am going to do it. You have inspired me and your website was just what I was looking for. Part of my problem is that I find that whenever something or someone upsets me, I reach for something sweet. I feel like an addict. Thank God I never started smoking!!! But today is the day and I promise MYSELF that I will be off sugar for a week. I will let you know how I do by the end of the week.
