Valentine’s Sugar Challenge!

February 13, 2012 Comments (6)

Nothing says, “I love you” like a plate of assorted fruits and veggies. Fruit and vegetable gift baskets not only delight girls but boys are equally in love with them as well. Baskets full of fresh produce symbolize desire and passion—so give your lover a box full of organic food to share while living out your romantic fantasies!

We’ve heard the story above so many times about chocolate that hearing it about anything else seems absurd.

The Challenge

Can you imagine a Valentine’s Day without sugar? OMG! What would happen? How can you show the person you love that you actually care if you don’t give them sugar to eat? How can you administer self love without downing something sweet and chocolaty?

Can you NOT CONFORM and avoid all sugar sweetened junk food on Valentine’s Day? Can you make it through this week without eating the junk food people everywhere seem to be consuming as if it’s the last year candy will be sold on February 14th?

I am happy to go sugar free this V-day, as even just a little added sugar triggers me to binge.

We made a heart-shaped pizza with tons of vegetables. Corny but fun!

I am doing better with less sugar binging, but still struggle with eating a lot of fruit at night after dinner. I love fruit, but feel I need to control this after-dinner snack more.

I spent one summer drinking way too many fruit smoothies! If you get off your trigger foods it should be easier to get your fruit consumption under control.

Instead of going out as we usually do, I asked beloved to buy a really nice champagne, and I cooked a non-sugar Valentine dinner, with dessert of raspberries and cream, a bit of shaved 99% Lindt dark chocolate on top.

About Me

I realized I had a sugar problem back in 2003 after a weekend-long binge on raw chocolate chip cookie dough and chocolate covered pretzels. As a result, I began trying to quit sugar but kept failing. Finally, I figured out a way to stay off sweet junk food for good.
