Quitting sugar forever is not only daunting, it’s also nearly impossible. That’s why every Halloween I eat sugar and then quit for another year.
This year I managed to get my hands on all this stuff (*without buying any of it):
Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream
A cupcake
M&Ms
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
Tollhouse Choclate Chip Cookies
Sweet Tarts
Butterfinger
Crackle
Kit Kat
Oreo cookies
Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
Chocolate Pokey
$10,000 dollar bar
Jr. Mints
York Peppermint Pattie
Chocolate
Butter cookies
* I mention this because it’s so EASY to find and eat sweets.
After eating all this junk and then stopping suddenly:
I find myself depressed and having trouble focusing on anything.
My stomach is upset and has been for two days.
My perspiration smells odd.
I feel bad about myself.
I feel tired and anxious.

I realized I had a sugar problem back in 2003 after a weekend-long binge on raw chocolate chip cookie dough and chocolate covered pretzels. As a result, I began trying to quit sugar but kept failing. Finally, I figured out a way to stay off sweet junk food for good.
