Try this:
For the rest of June only eat sweets on Sunday.
During the other days of the week—when you get super hungry—eat replacement foods.
Be prepared for extreme hunger! Eat complex carbs like orange juice, healthy (not white) breads, and lots of fruits and veggies.
Eat until you are satisfied. You might find yourself eating a little too much, but know it won’t last forever. When you want sweets, tell yourself it’s just a matter of days.
Try that for June.
It’ll show you a whole lot about yourself and let you see if you really want to stop being sweet for real.
I’m in! Actually, my commitment is no sugar June 1st-June 30th, seven days a week for those 30 days.
I blogged as nosugarmama.blogspot.com last summer, but can’t remember my login info to update that.
I will say here, though, that it has been a cinch so far! No withdrawal, no nothing, just hunky dory.
That said, I did revise my original goal, even before I started, from 78 days (to beat last year’s) to 30!

Yes, orange juice, bread, and fruit all contain sugars. When quitting sweets (refined sugars such as candy, cakes, and cookies) your body will crave sugar. My personal feeling is that it’s okay to drink orange juice (especially when quitting the “hard stuff”). Which is more healthy, a glass of orange juice every morning or a super sweet Starbucks Coffee?

giving sugar up and all that goodies was really easy (i am 19 by the way), but do you know the very very difficult part for me is, and for some of you it will sound very stupid reason to fail and i guess it is, but people keep nagging at me, take a bite of this and asking me questions, and having a go at me…and just to avoid it, i’ll then eat the sugar just to avoid all this. you all have been at this for a longer time than me, and i would appreciate very good advice.

Hi Mimi,
At first people will question you. They might even get angry that you are not eating sugar but you can simply say that it is your choice and that’s that. They are testing you and when you break down and eat sugar they have beaten you!
After a month or two they will stop asking questions. Eventually, because you always say no, they will stop bothering you. Your good friends will make special sugar-free desserts for you and some might even start to join you by not eating sugar!

thank you David…
it’s tuff, just a little while ago i had to refuse “just a tiny bite” of ice cream.
i guess not eating sugar will really become me huh?
As long as i know i am not alone, i am okay. I will just keep on saying no…no and no…!

How about whenever someone offers me something sweet I’ll think of you and say no. Think of me next time someone offers you something sweet!
