I made some cookies during my sugar binge weekend. After mixing up the dough, I tasted it to check for perfection. To my surprise it was way too sweet! In fact, I could feel the granules of sugar on my tongue. Gross.
After second-checking the recipe, it was apparent that no mistake had been made. It really called for 3/4 a cup of granulated sugar and 3/4 a cup of brown sugar.
“Wow,” I thought. That’s too much. Still, I baked and ate them—not all by myself.
I’ll fess up to it: I sacrificed myself and helped David eat the cookies. I knew that if I didn’t eat some of them, he’d feel twice as sick after eating the full batch of cookies instead of only half of them. The things I’ll do for that man!
Frankly, I’m glad that David is off sugar again. I eat a lot more chocolate when I can eat it in his company. There is something about sharing sweets with a loved one that encourages me to consume more than I would on my own. When he quits, we both eat more healthily.
