Are you a sugar addict? I am.
In 2005 I vowed to quit and began
writing about life without sweets.
This site contains a forum,
product reviews, my journal,
educational Sugar Challenges,
and the Stop Being Sweet ebook.
Halloween is coming! It’s getting closer every day.
This week’s challenge is an easy one. Just drink water.
No coffee. No tea. No soda. No artificially sweetened soda. No fruit juice.
Okay, it’s not that easy. But it won’t hurt you at all.
It’s most difficult when you’re around people. They’ll wonder what’s wrong with you and you’ll see how easily you do or don’t give in to peer pressure.
From right now until next Monday, drink only water.
Good luck!
Halloween is coming! What are you going to be this year? Will you dress up? How about being sugarless?
Candy is everywhere. Parties are being planned. You’re going to be exposed to junk food no matter where you go.
This week’s challenge is easy. If you must eat sweets, only eat them before 12 noon.
That’s it. Easy, right? You can still eat whatever you want as long as it’s before noon.
Why do this? Because the holiday season is fast approaching and if you’re out of control now it’s going to be even worse in the coming months. By restricting your sugar intake to the mornings only you have the chance to exercise your “moderation” muscle. Figuring out some kind of parameter for yourself is important when you’re exposed to tons of sweets.
Also, if you have sweets in the morning and then stop by midday you’ll have the whole afternoon to see and feel how sugar effects your body.
Good luck!

This week’s sugar challenge asks you to count (or at least pay attention to and notice) how many times a day you get the opportunity to eat sweets.
Every time you’re at the checkout and there’s an array of candy in front of you, take notice.
When you’re at work and there’s something sweet awaiting you at your desk, take notice.
After dinner when the server brings out the dessert tray and waves it under your nose, take notice.
Of course, you will ideally say no and avoid all of these temptations. That goes without saying.

I realized I had a sugar problem back in 2003 after a weekend-long binge on raw chocolate chip cookie dough and chocolate covered pretzels. As a result, I began trying to quit sugar but kept failing. Finally, I figured out a way to stay off sweet junk food for good.
