These events have changed the lives of all of us who live in the United States. We truly lost our innocence. We thought it could never happen here in our own country. It was a wake up call that proved the hatred some people have for us. My heart still breaks for those innocent people who lost their lives that day… and their families and friends… and those of the first responders. We must not forget.

How come not one computer, desk, or telephone was found?
How did the collapse (fire) turn all of the concrete into dust?
What made WTC7 free fall the way it did?
How did the police know WTC & was going to fall?
How exactly did fire cause WTC7 to free fall into its own footprint?
Too many unanswered questions!

WE WILL REMEMBER
words & music by n.p.franko (Bklyn,N.Y.)
Thru the dark of night / I saw a guiding light
a ray of hope / that helped me cope / with the wrongs I could not right
Amidst the shades of gray / True colors found their way
and all for one / they did not run / nor will I be afraid
The Finest and the Brave / We Will Remember / forever in our hearts
What Sons and Daughters gave / on that September / forever in our hearts
How they came from far and wide / Brothers, Sisters side by side
Blood, sweat and tears / they knew no fear
so the stars and the bars might wave / We Will Remember
I watched the numbers grow / The gratitude they’d show
as they gathered ‘round / this hallowed ground / for the many thanks we owe
Our Friends and Family / We Will Remember / forever in our hearts
and what could never be / since that September / forever in our hearts
How the towers reached the sky / how we never said “goodbye”
We’ll recall / as heroes all / for Lady Liberty / We Will Remember
A world that yearns / with twists and turns / the Trade for freedom met
The Center of / our lives, with love / we will not soon forget
The Finest and the Brave / We Will Remember / forever in our hearts
What Sons and Daughters gave / on that September / forever in our hearts
How they came from far and wide / Brothers, Sisters side by side
Blood, sweat and tears / they knew no fear
so the stars and the bars might wave / We Will Remember
We Will Remember / We WIll Remember /
We WIll Remember / We Will Remember

Saw the article in Portland Tribune on your 9/11 video and unfortunately cannot view on my archiac, outdated laptop. You being a storyteller, I was hoping for a public viewing of the video and some collective stories from individuals who shared that same day in history…maybe something to ponder in 5 more years for the 15th year? It is still difficult to get the full impact as most people on the West coast had visuals(media) for comprehending that ‘event’ in time & place. Personal stories would elevate the meaning to another level, don’t you think?
NPR’s Terry Gross did a great interview on Wed.(Sept. 7) you should listen to those two men, their stories brought tears to my soul.

Great as-it-happened man on the street footage, thank you for sharing.
I find the poignant part (am only halfway done viewing) is the gentle, calm guy at 18:00 minutes in who says the other tragedy is for the guy who just paid 800 million dollars to insure the buildings for 100 [99 actually] years… that “insurance doesn’t cover stuff like this”.
As we found out a few years ago, it did.
Because lawyers claimed there were two planes, they should be considered it two separate attacks.
It was agreed to, so 7 different insurers (Chubb Corp., Swiss Reinsurance Co., Lloyd’s of London, German Alliance Corp., ACE Ltd and XL Capital Ltd.) were forced to pay Larry Silverstein his premiums (almost) in full for the sum of $4.55 Billion.
The largest settlement ever given in the industry.

I’m only a few minutes in, and while I haven’t watched a lot of footage/documentaries from the day, I think this might be the best. The Noudet documentary where they’re actually IN the buildings is good, but this video is getting real reactions from real people who represent us all IN the moment and not in an interview a month later. It’s interesting to hear all the rumors and speculation, because that also is a huge part of the day. Thanks for sharing!

I was also in NYC that morning and this video depicts very much what my experience was also. It will stick with me forever. I will never forget the constant sirens…then the silence and desolate streets and the thousands and thousands of posters for the missing that turned up over the next few days.

‘MEET ME IN THE STAIRWELL’
You say you will never forget where you were when you heard the news On September 11, 2001.
Neither will I.
I was on the 110th floor in a smoke filled room with a man who called his wife to say ‘Good-Bye.’ I held his fingers steady as he dialed. I gave him the peace to say, ‘Honey, I am not going to make it, but it is OK..I am ready to go.’
I was with his wife when he called as she fed breakfast to their children. I held her up as she tried to understand his words and as she realized he wasn’t coming home that night.
I was in the stairwell of the 23rd floor when a woman cried out to Me for help. ‘I have been knocking on the door of your heart for 50 years!’ I said. ‘Of course I will show you the way home - only believe in Me now.’
I was at the base of the building with the Priest ministering to the injured and devastated souls. I took him home to tend to his Flock in Heaven. He heard my voice and answered.
I was on all four of those planes, in every seat, with every prayer. I was with the crew as they were overtaken. I was in the very hearts of the believers there, comforting and assuring them that their faith has saved them.
I was in Texas , Virginia , California , Michigan , Afghanistan . I was standing next to you when you heard the terrible news. Did you sense Me?
I want you to know that I saw every face. I knew every name - though not all know Me. Some met Me for the first time on the 86th floor.
Some sought Me with their last breath. Some couldn’t hear Me calling to them through the smoke and flames; ‘Come to Me… this way… take my hand.’ Some chose, for the final time, to ignore Me. But, I was there.
I did not place you in the Tower that day. You may not know why, but I do.. However, if you were there in that explosive moment in time, would you have reached for Me?
Sept. 11, 2001, was not the end of the journey for you . But someday your journey will end. And I
will be there for you as well. Seek Me now while I may be found. Then, at any moment, you know you are ‘ready to go.’
I will be in the stairwell of your final moments.

David, this is amazing coverage from your own experience that is unlike any other coverage I’ve seen. I was struck by many things including the idea that having the insurance for the buildings was the ‘real trajedy’. Amazing to see many people in full panic over what is happening while others, mixed throughout the same area, seem to be trying to go about their lives in a business as usual manner. Thanks for sharing this David. Ken
