Hanging signs in NYC, 2001

NYCstories.com was launched in August of 2001. It was intended to be a place where people could share tales about the Big Apple. One month later the towers fell.

Following the attack, New Yorkers seemingly only spoke of one thing—recounting stories about what happened on September 11th.

After several weeks passed, conversations began to shift back to everyday topics. Memories diminish over time and eventually completely disappear so I began to collect people’s stories while the details were still fresh in thier minds.

In addition to the 9/11 stories, this website also holds a collection of the most popular electronic folklore that circulated the Internet during the weeks and months after the attack.

Ten years later, in 2011, I finally felt ready to edit the video that I shot on the streets that day. The result is My 9/11, which contains an hour of never before seen footage.
