Last night was Last Thursday, which is a monthly street festival here in Portland, Oregon. Look how the fun begins on Alberta when they close the street to cars!

Kids are free to jump rope.

Religious people can get their messages heard. And I mean heard. This guy had the loudest bass of any band or DJ on the block. You could feel it! As I watched them dance and wave their signs, it occurred to me that these folks possibly looked at everyone in the crowd as a bunch of doomed wanderers who need to be saved. (The woman even looks as if she might be crying.) That’s kind of how environmentalists view all of society!

There are bands every fifty feet with a drum circle in between.

Yep, that’s me on Gwenn’s bag!

Fire and metal are his friends.

His friend was juggling knives!

That’s a massage chair she’s being fit into.

This kid was a young Paul McCartney!

For some, Last Thursday is a spectator sport. (It was for me!)
At the end of the night I saw this man sitting inside of a scooter with a roof on it. At first glance, it looks like a motorized shopping cart on steroids. However, Bill’s Auto Moto describes this to be a very capable road-worthy machine. It also claims to be eco-friendly. When gas prices went through the roof, some Americans ran out and purchased scooters. Now that gas prices have leveled off, people are back in the driver’s seat of their four-wheeled automobiles and their scooters are for sale on Craigslist. Will we ever shift from cars to other forms of transportation?

There were lots of cute dogs at Last Thursday but Shorty, pictured above, was the cutest little mutt you’ve ever seen. When he walked, his hind legs followed his front legs about two inches to the right.
